The West Chester Fire Department was founded in the Autumn of 1799 and is one of the oldest continually operating volunteer fire departments in the country. The Department is comprised of three individual companies:
· The First West Chester Fire Company (Engine Company)
· The Good Will Fire Company (Engine Company)
· The Fame Fire Company (Ladder & Rescue Company)
The men and women of the Department are 100% Volunteer and respond to emergencies 365 days a year. The Department is the primary provider of Fire and Rescue services to West Chester Borough and East Bradford Township, as well as the primary provider for significant portions of West Goshen, Westtown, Birmingham, and Thornbury Townships. The Department also provides mutual aid services to surrounding fire departments including; Downingtown FD, Exton FD, West Bradford FD and Goshen FD.
