Chaplain Jerry Schwartz has actively served the West Chester Fire Department for nearly 28 years. His career in the Fire Service began in 1970 as a firefighter in the Baltimore City Fire Department. His last assignment was as Captain at the Steadman super house, busiest in the nation for many years. He now also serves as Chaplain for the Chester County Fire Chiefs Association and is also the Coordinator for the county’s elite Critical Incident/ Peer Support Team, helping First Responders process traumatic stress. His experience and involvement in major fires and emergencies as well as line of duty injury and deaths make him a tremendous resource for firefighters and others in need of assistance dealing with the stresses and unique challenges of First Responders as well as life itself!
