The Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC) is a volunteer committee established to advise Borough Council on matters of sustainability. The SAC was adopted by Borough Council in November 2015 with a mission to increase collaboration between borough departments on issues regarding the economic vitality and environmental sustainability of West Chester Borough.
The SAC aims to:
Promote the use of green infrastructure and sustainable best practices throughout the Borough. The SAC reviews all land development plans and offers suggestions for green infrastructure improvements and utilization of sustainability best practices. In support of this goal the SAC developed a West Chester Sustainable! Certification for any building project that meets strict provisions for energy efficiency, wastewater management, indoor air quality, and smart site management.
Advise Borough Council on matters of sustainability, like the best way to reach 100% renewable energy by 2050 or how best to implement a plastic bag ban.

Champion the sustainability initiatives of Borough residents. If you have an issue you are passionate about or a plan to improve sustainability in the borough, share it with the committee. The SAC meets the second Thursday of the month and the public is always welcome or contact firstname.lastname@example.org to get your item added to the agenda.
