FREE PROGRAMS

Star Party at Hoopes Park with the Chester County Astronomical Society
Join West Chester Recreation and the Chester County Astronomical Society on Saturday, April 6th from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm for a night under the stars at Hoopes Park. Members of the Chester County Astronomical Society, a group of amateur astronomers, will bring telescopes and expertise to Hoopes Park to share the wonders of the night sky.
As the glow of the Sun fades we’ll see the red planet Mars near a beautiful star cluster called the Pleiades, also known as The Seven Sisters. The winter constellations will be setting in the west and we can gaze upon the Orion Nebula in Orion the Hunter. The Beehive Cluster will be high in the sky and Leo the Lion will be in center stage in the south.

Youth Sports

Bitty Ballet
Bitty Ballet is a program designed for preschool age children as an introduction to dance. Ballet is a wonderful stepping stone to encourage group participation, listening to instructor and a true love to dance and movement for these developing souls. Simple ballet positions and moves also encourage physical activity and controlled body movements in toddlers. We also believe in building the confidence and worth of our dancers - we offer topics of conversation each class to encourage children to be kind, generous, and passionate.
Ages: 2.5 – 5 years old
Location: Westtown School Cabin
Session 2: Saturdays March 30th – May 4th 
Time: Level 1 10am – 10:40am

Soccer Shots
Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development. Our Caring team positively impacts children’s lives on and off the field through best-in-class coaching, curriculum and communication. Our goal is simple: to leave a lasting and positive impact on every child we serve!
Ages: 3 – 5 years
Session 1: Thursdays, March 28th – May 16th

An additional $15 registration fee will be charged for children who did not participate in the spring.

Flag Football - NEW!
Children in grades K - 4 have a blast learning the basics of football. Players are grouped by age, coached at their level of understanding, and play fun, low competition games under adult supervision. Jump Start Sports staff coaches will conduct all instruction. Parent coaches can assist in the instruction and will call the plays for their teams,but having our coach’s lead the program will ensure that all teams receive the same instruction in a planned and organized program. This program will also implement equal playing time and a rotation of players in various positions during the scrimmages that will help teach within the context of the game

Tbirds Tball
A fun and highly instructional introduction to baseball for 3-5 year old boys and girls. Players learn the basics of throwing, catching, fielding, batting, and base running, and then apply what they have learned in fun, non-competitive games. Children will play a rotating schedule of games.

CLASSES:

AHA BLS for HealthCare Providers
This course is 3 hours long and is for EMT’S, Paramedics, Nurses and Doctors. This course will result in a two-year certification. This course is video led with instructor interaction. All participants must complete a hands-on skills test and a 25-question written test achieving an 84% or higher.

Tri-State Adult, Child, Infant CPR/AED
The Tri-State CPR/AED program is instructed by an individual who is a certified instructor for the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI). This course is intended for all persons who are interested in being certified in CPR/AED for Adult/Child/Infant. This course meets the requirements to be certified in CPR for Infants, Children & Adults in accordance with the 2015 Guidelines set forth by the American Heart Association. Areas of training: Adult, Child and Infant CPR/AED

Certified Babysitting Course
Babysitting is usually a teenager’s first attempt at building and running a small business. Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) course comes in a magazine-format guide designed to engage and inform the aspiring babysitter. It gives teenagers everything they need to know, from getting started, to dealing with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips. Participants will need to bring a lunch.
