Maintenance Responsibilities
West Chester Borough owns and maintains 28.2 center line miles of local streets, which equals almost 65 lane miles. The Public Works Department is responsible for conducting all pavement repairs, maintenance, and major construction of borough streets and alleys. Much of the work done by borough personnel includes:
- Filling potholes
- Performing base repairs in small areas of streets which have deteriorated or failed
- Preparatory structural repairs on streets scheduled for resurfacing
- Restoring pavements cut for subsurface utility repairs
- Crack sealing and miscellaneous curb repairs
Large Maintenance Projects
Large projects such as pavement milling, resurfacing or reconstruction are done using outside construction contractors.
